MEASUREMENT PRINCIPLE
The instrument measures the electrical potential difference generated
between a glass pH sensing electrode and a reference electrode.
The measured potential is converted according to the Nernst Equation:
E = E₀ + (2.303RT/nF) log [H⁺]
Where:
E = Measured Electrode Potential
E₀ = Standard Electrode Potential
R = Universal Gas Constant
T = Absolute Temperature (K)
n = Number of Electrons
F = Faraday Constant
The hydrogen ion concentration is subsequently converted into pH:
pH = −log₁₀[H⁺]
